Anatolia which has been crafted by many generations to perfection. The art of carving wood goes back to the earliest times in Turkish culture and it has an important place in traditional arts. Turks in
Central Asia considered trees sacred and enhanced their arts by using them. Walking cane craftsmanship is an inherited trade that is handed down from the times of the Seljuk Empire (1071 A.D.) and the Ottomans. Cane and walking stick craftsmanship developed in
Anatolia during Seljuk Empire times and formed its own unique characteristics. Carving and crafting canes and sticks have survived from past to present in Turkish lands. While people from all around the world have developed special interests to handcrafted walking sticks, people in Turkish lands have been using those fashionable and unique wooden canes for centuries.
Suberde canes are made by local Anatolian artists who crafted canes and walking sticks for centuries in the eastern part of Turkey and the skills passed on to generations in time.
Suberde handcrafted and hand carved wooden canes can be used for hiking, mobility aid, collection and decorative purposes. They can also be considered as a great gift for your loving ones.
Our wood and bone walking sticks are manufactured by skilled hands of Anatolian artists. Those sticks are ornamented and embroidered by carving regional designs and finally polished by using gloss or varnish. Original Seljuk motifs are used for ornamenting the canes which brings great value to the products as well as the used materials and of course the special effort of the artists.
Materials used in Suberde products are; walnut or cherry tree and horns of buffalo, ram and calf. Walnut especially is a ravishing and ideal wood which is also valuable and durable against time.

SIZING CANES...
We highly suggest having a medical professional to consult and size the height of the cane in the event of using it as the walking aid. If the person does not wish to have a medical consultancy, the below explanation can be considered.
The user must stand still with arms naturally fall to the sides (not tightened or extremely straight) and have the regular walking shoes. The cane should be held next to the user at an upside down position (handle to touch the ground and the rubber tip removed). Another person should measure the length between the ground and the user's wrist joint.
If the length of the cane cannot be measured at the time being, please consider that most canes and walking sticks' length should be within one or two centimetres of half of the user's height.
